After months of researching for a new phone, I bought the Sony Ericsson W705. The slider phone is from Sony's Walkman series. Here is why I settled for this phone:
What I was looking in a new phone:
- 3G
- A good Music player with good enough storage space
- WiFi
Connecting to the internet via the phone was one of my requirements and having 3G/WiFi in the same phone was something hard to find. Atleast in the not so expensive range. This was the clinching factor for me.
Also, having a good music player was important. I need company while travelling alone :). Having FM radio was a big plus.
The built in web browser is pretty decent and I was able to open most non wap websites with ease using the browser.
Most jar applications can be installed on the phone. The ones I've setup are Snaptu (Twitter/News app), eBuddy (Chat client), MidpSSH (SSH client), gMail app for mobile and Opera Mini.
The phone comes with a youtube application and can play videos from youtube at ease while on the 3G network. Also available is the Google Maps application (very useful when you move around a bit).

The phone's camera (3.15MP) is pretty good and the photos are quite clear. Here is a sample pic taken outdoors.

- Issues with the phone?
Yes, there is major problem with the battery on this phone. When connected via the 3G network, the battery drains out in a few hours. More details on this issue are given here:

- NB: Using the phone more under GSM temporarily resolves this issue. Waiting to hear from Sony on a fix.
